Rothamsted Manor - 英式莊園大宅 Rothamsted Estate - 莊園的歷史 ： Rothamsted Manor 這座美麗的英式莊園大宅，位於倫敦北面 Harpenden, St Albans 的近市中心。 莊園建於 13 世紀初， 極 具歷史價值。到 了 1525 年 ，大宅更 曾 堪稱坐擁十六間大房的豪宅呢！時至 1623年，Wittewronge 家族把大宅買下，並改建成大致像現今的模樣。大宅為一級歷史建築 。   Rothamsted Estate 與 Sir John Lawes ： 原來 （ Harpenden 著名 中學 ） 的 Sir John Lawes 竟然與此莊園有極大的關係？ 冇錯！Sir John Lawes 亦曾是莊園的主人呀！   Rothamsted Manor 莊園 正 門 - 大鐘刻有 1650年 （ 上 ） 、 大宅的匾牌 （ 中 ）   Formal Gardens @Rothamsted Manor Open Days   Rothamsted Manor - 莊園的 故事：   Lawes 的父親原是這座莊園的園主。1822 年，Lawes 八 歲 ，那年他的父親去世了。家道中落，他的母親 便 把莊園裡的房子出租，以供他繼續讀 書 。 1834 年，房客離去，他的母親又回到莊園了。正讀牛津大二的 Lawes 於是也回家幫母親打理莊園。   Rothamsted Manor 莊園的大房間 Sir John Lawes 與 Rothamsted Estate ： Lawes 一生熱愛科學，他更 曾 把莊園的一間房間，改裝成為他的實驗室呢！至 1842 年，他終於取得初步成功，申報了一項他的農業產品專利了！ 到了 1843 年，他更成立了農業產品研究中心 「 Rothamsted Experimental Station 」 。 至 1931 年，雖然他的家族 後裔 決定把   Rothamsted Estate 莊園 出售！唯至 1934 年，他成立的 「 Rothamsted Experimental Station 」 卻把 莊園 購回。   時至 1938 年，Harpenden Urban Distri...
